Know your bow

Find your size: Black Eagle and newer Oneidas

Label worn off? On newer Oneidas each size is a cam-and-outboard combination with its own cable colors. The yoke colors usually settle it; some Black Eagles need brace height and string length too.

  • Difficulty Easy
  • Time 10 minutes
  • For 13 Oneida models

Extreme Eagle, Falcon and Switchblade colors come from the later C.P. booklet (Oneida's 2006 Extreme Eagle sheet agrees).

All how-to guides

We're still double-checking this guide against how we do it in the shop. If anything doesn't match your bow, stop and text us or call 270-318-2020.

Before you start

  • Know your model first.
  • This is all looking and measuring.

Steps

  1. Pin down the model: C.P.A. means a 2001–09 C.P. bow, BE a 2000 Black Eagle.
  2. Kestrel: read the item number (20009–20024) on the power-limb label if it shows one; each stands for one set-up.
  3. Write down the paint colors on the power (string side) and yoke (riser side) cable ends.
  4. Match both on your model page; the Kestrel yoke colors alone tell its four set-ups apart.
  5. Phoenix and 2017+ Osprey: read the yoke: red/white Short, red/blue Medium, red/yellow Long. Power colors depend on pre-2020 vs Helix cables.
  6. Check the serial if you see blue/white power with a red/yellow yoke; that pair appears on both the C.P. Osprey (Medium L.F.) and the newer Long.
  7. Hawk: note Oneida's chart shows just one size.
  8. Black Eagle: use brace height and cam length, as Oneida says. On the 2001–03 Black Eagle the Super Short and Short share colors, and the LF, Medium and Long share another pair. On the 2000 Black Eagle only the LF and Medium share colors.
  9. Pro Eagle: wood and carbon outboard limbs share cable colors but take different strings (44½″ wood, 45½″ carbon). Check your outboard limbs or measure your old string.
  10. Send us a photo of any outboard dots; our hand-drawn chart shows Black Eagle Medium vs L.F. and Super Short patterns.
  11. Measure brace height from the deepest part of the grip and compare; treat it as a clue.
  12. Use the label, serial, brace height and string length if your cables were replaced without paint.
  13. Send us your model or serial, both colors, brace height and string length when you order.
