Which string material? H-250, H-500 and Tomcat

Oneida's string chart lists B-50 Dacron for the H-250, H-500, Tomcat and Tomcat II, and Oneida warned owners never to put a 'fast' string on them. Here's what Oneida said and how to order.

  • Difficulty Easy
  • Time 5 minutes
  • For 4 Oneida models

Oneida's warning names only these four. Tomcat EXP, Tomcat III and T-III EXP aren't named; ask us about those.

All how-to guides

We're still double-checking this guide against how we do it in the shop. If anything doesn't match your bow, stop and text us or call 270-318-2020.

Before you start

  • Find your model from the serial or limb label.

Steps

  1. Confirm your model: H5, H2 and T serials mean H-500, H-250 and Tomcat on 1987-on bows. A T serial doesn't separate the Tomcat versions, so check your model page.
  2. Note Oneida's two groups: B-50 Dacron for the H-500, H-250, Tomcat and Tomcat II; Omni-Flite for the SE600/SE689/LXV, Phantom, Phantom II, Strike Eagle and Aero-Force.
  3. Never fit a Fast-Flite, Accu-Flite or Omni-Flite string on these four bows, Oneida's manuals say; it can damage the limbs and voids the warranty.
  4. Note the background: Oneida describes maple-and-glass outboards on the H-500 and Tomcat and a 16-strand B-50 factory string on the H-500.
  5. Read an old factory string by its loop and serving colors, knowing black/black can be a B-50 47 in or an Omni-Flite 50 1/2 in.
  6. Fill in Bow Model and String Length exactly when you order, so we build the right material.

Tips

  • Never try to change draw length with a different-length string. (Dealer Instructions p.19)
