Tuning and setup

Change draw weight and set tiller: Stealth Eagle

The Stealth's timing is set at the factory and has no slotted wheel to unlock. Change weight with the bolts and tiller it by feeling the timing cable tension at each end.

  • Difficulty Moderate
  • Time 20–40 minutes
  • For 1 Oneida model

Stealth Eagle only. Its weight bolts, limbs and hinge pin differ from every other Oneida.

All how-to guides

We're still double-checking this guide against how we do it in the shop. If anything doesn't match your bow, stop and text us or call 270-318-2020.

Before you start

  • Oneida lists only four adjustments: timing cable tension, draw weight, tiller and draw length.
  • Stealth weight bolts, limbs and stainless hinge pin don't swap with other Oneidas.
  • Never dry-fire. It can overstress the timing cable and the limb pockets.
  • Check the string and cables for wear and wear safety glasses.

Steps

  1. Change weight with the two bolts, switching ends every 2 full turns to spare the timing cable and grip.
  2. Turn clockwise to add weight and counter-clockwise to remove it, as on other Oneidas.
  3. Press the timing cable where it leaves each big timing wheel. Equal tension means the bow is close to tillered.
  4. Rest a finger on the cable at the wheel and take a little weight off the slack end or add a little to the tight end until both feel even.
  5. Fine-tune arrow flight with about a quarter turn on a weight bolt.
  6. Even the cable if it's still uneven when tillered: loosen the spool set screw, back the spool off, snug it without over-tightening and retighten the set screw.
  7. Seat the spool flush in its boss. If it won't, push it in while turning counter-clockwise until the cable slips past, then turn clockwise and tighten the set screw.
  8. Grease the timing cable under the grip now and then, especially when new.
  9. Replace a timing cable stretched by a dry-fire or limb hit if the ends will never feel even (see 'Replace and tension the timing cable: Stealth Eagle').

Tips

  • Draw length uses cam inserts held by a small stainless screw; don't over-tighten it, and never draw without an insert, even at 27 in. (Stealth Eagle Instructions p.8)
  • No lube between the power limb and the rocker end cap. (Stealth Eagle Instructions p.6)
